What do I hear?
Mayor’s Office, March 2025
The snows are retreating (yeah I know, never trust April) and the temperatures are rising. If you close your eyes you can already smell the campfires and the cooking and hear….. Well what do you hear?
My first SCA event was Pennsic 35. I knew nothing, and aside from my companion, no one. I was in “garb”, sort of. Pictures are well hidden. But I haven’t missed a Pennsic since. One of the things that kept me coming back was the music. It was everywhere. You literally walked from one music bubble into the other. In time I played some myself here and there.
Alas, slowly the music has had less and less of a presence in Pennsic public life, and for years I promised myself that if I ever became Mayor, I would try to bring some of that spark back. And here we are. A plan has been hatched to bring more music to the stage utilizing the Amphitheater by the store. A fine team of volunteers, consisting of Master Sylvanus the Drummer (OL), Master Donovan the Drummer (OL), and the Lovely Audrey have been assembled to put together an entertainment schedule and coordinate the events.
Look for forthcoming information from the Music Team!

Mayor’s Missive #3
Greetings unto all, may these words find you well,
There are still a few long weeks before on-line Registration opens, but for many Staff Pennsic is year round. In early November we had our first planning meeting. Budgets are being finalized, the Info team is getting ready to load 53 info into the Website, other divisions are working on contracts with vendors after determining what and how many of everything we will need. More staff positions are being filled. Soon it will be May and we will be having our work week, where we do projects and build things to make Pennsic better, while maintaining and repairing the equipment we have, and we have a lot. Personally I am working on a special music project for this year, stay tuned for details! In the meantime we wish one and all a happy and healthy holiday season. May you feel the warmth of friends and family as we shepherd in the new year. What it will bring? Who knows, but if we can help it we’re going to have another great Pennsic!
